Zingem, a green lung along the Scheldt/Schelde, is located in between the historic cities of Ghent (25 km) and Oudenarde (10 km), in the heart of a vast agricultural and wildlife area with lots of recreation possibilities: walking/hiking, cycling, fishing, horseback riding, study of nature, hunting and so much more.

Our municipality is a true paradise for nature lovers, fishermen, cyclists, mountain bikers, roller skaters and walkers/hikers.
The flat Scheldemeersen, the reed land and the towpath form a truly breathtaking scenery of natural beauty. Along these pedestrian paths and old Scheldt meanders one can find, apart from wild births, flowers and plants, also peace and quiet.
In those areas where in former days clay was obtained and twigs have been planted, an exceptional flora and fauna can now be found.

The holiday home is situated along the municipal Natuurleerpad/Nature education path (an approximately 10 km long walking path through a protected nature reserve of 443 ha. that serves as an example with respect to natural science, nature development and agricultural policy). The open landscape of the Scheldt valley is amongst others preserved by 3 wild grazing Galloway cattle.

Near to where the Zwalm flows into the Scheldt, one can find the Nature- and Environment Education Centre De Kaaihoeve.

More information on the municipal nature reserves can be found on the following website: www.zingem.be
